Accessible Visitor Guide

We believe everyone should be able to experience the magic of a Top End fishing charter. This guide is designed to help you plan your visit with confidence, providing information on accessibility from booking to boarding.

Getting Here – Accessible Transport

  • Car & Drop-off: The Stokes Hill Wharf precinct offers accessible parking bays close to our departure point. Access is available from the parking area to the wharf walkway.

  • Taxis & Rideshare: We recommend advising your driver of the Stokes Hill Wharf drop-off zone, which offers flat, paved access to the boarding area.

  • Public Transport: The nearest bus stops are in the Darwin CBD, approximately 5-10 minutes away by wheelchair-accessible taxi. The Darwin Waterfront provides a free shuttle service around the water front facilities.

Boarding & Vessel Access

  • Boarding: We board the Salty Brumby via the decks of Cape Adieu which is accessed from a stable gangway with a gentle slope. The angle of the gangway may change with tides, our crew are available to assist if required.

  • Deck Access: moving from the Cape Adieu to the Salty Brumby requires a medium level of fitness and mobility

  • Seating: A variety of seating options are available, including upright chairs with backs.

  • Wheelchair Use: Unfortunately it is not possible for us to accomodate wheelchair access.

Onboard Facilities

  • Toilets: One portable camping style toilet is available onboard; due to vessel design, it is not wheelchair-accessible. Crew can provide information on nearby accessible facilities before boarding.

  • Lighting & Signage: Clear lighting is provided on board. Crew can guide guests with low vision to and from seating.

  • Assistance Animals: Due to the inherent risks with fishing equipment (hooks, knives, etc) we do not permit animals on board.

Catering

  • Menu Options: We can accommodate dietary requirements including gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, vegan, and low-sodium options. We are happy to cater to other preferences with notice. Please advise at the time of booking with a minimum of 48 hours notice.

Booking & Pre-Arrival Assistance

  • Booking Online: Our website offers an easy-to-use booking system, with the option to call or email if preferred.

  • Pre-Visit Enquiries: Guests are welcome to discuss specific accessibility needs in advance. Our team will make every effort to adapt the experience to individual requirements.
